TOP 30 REALISTIC NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS.
It’s almost 2019. Happy almost New Year! We all go through this phase of wanting something new and putting up these ridiculous expectations that we should meet.
Half way through the year we are disappointed that yet another year is going by but the same thing is happening and your new year resolutions are still incomplete.
Here are simple, realistic and achievable new year resolutions.
-
Smile often.
- Get some help.
- Cook at least one meal per day.
- Open a savings account. Put in a R20 or R50 every month and save for a rainy day.
- Start a work from home business from your skills.
- Make time for yourself.
- Try a new hobby.
- Make time for your significant other.
- Blog more often.
- Eat healthy, drink plenty water.
- Live in the present, embrace and enjoy every moment.
- Cry it out when you have those rough days and you just cant handle it.
- Make mom friends with your parenting style.
-
Budget. And Budget. Dont forget to Budget.
- Learn something new.
- Be a bit more patient.
- Go on a me-holiday.
- Spoil yourself once in a while. DIY pampering really helps when I feel overwhelmed.
- Discover something new about yourself.
- Close your ears to unsolicited advice.
- Make a habit of self positive affirmations.
- Dont spend lots of time with that negative person who always puts you down.
- Cut yourself some slack.
- Save and buy for yourself the one thing you have always wanted.
- Show yourself, your children and your significant other a little more love.
- Revamp your house if you have the funding.
- Develop a DIY mentality and get things done.
-
Learn to drive. I am ashamed to say that at 24 years old, this is definitely on my list.
- Try before you say you can’t. If you fail big ups to you for trying.
- Enjoy some relaxing music.
Lastly and most importantly, your new year resolution should be that its time for a fresh start. Let go of the failures and mistakes of last year. Move forward with a skip in your step and a smile on your face. You got this, mom. You are doing good.
Cheers
Happy New Year

#16 Be more patient is my New Year’s goal. I have three small girls and sometimes I find myself to be extremely patient and other times patience is out the window.
While patience with someone who is moving too slow when the red light changes to green is not as important, I think having more patience with my girls is of the utmost importance.
Thanks for sharing this list. I believe these are realistic goals that people can actually stick to and achieve in the New Year!
Thank you Kristie. Yes patience with your kids is of uttermost importance.
This is a good list. I especially like the “smile more” and “go on a me-cation”
Thank you Angela. They say a smile reduces wrinkles.
This is a great list! It all starts with becoming clear on what you want, so kudos to you for getting to this point! This is something I plan to do in the near future as well. Many that will be on my list will be similar to yours, such as closing my ears to unsolicited advice and making a habit of positive self-affirmations. ?
Thank you Sherry. Sometimes advise is not the best. I hope you make your list soon
Definitely need to take some of these to heart and add them to my own resolution list. Especially cutting myself slack and the me-holiday. I sure need one of those.
Love these resolutions!
I’m glad you find them helpful. Monica. Hope they work out for you.
Great list of resolutions for stay a home mamas. I am hoping to try something new next year and also cut myself some slack because I tend to beat myself up about little things sometimes.
I love that you include starting a work-from-home business on this list! It’s so awesome to see people acknowledging and promoting that self-employment IS POSSIBLE, and that our dreams are tangible! Great post ?
I am trying to start a work from home business. Will see how it goes. Thank you
I loved this post. Plenty of feel good ideas for busy mums! Hopefully I can implement a lot of them in the coming year!
Thank you. I hope you will
Looks like we share the same new year resolutions. Good luck. Happy holidays. Thanks for the post.
Thank you. Happy holidays.

What a great list! There is a lot on your list that will be on mine (I haven’t created yet…stop procrastinating should be number 1 on my list haha)
I would also like to point out number 28 on your list. I’m 27 years old and I got my drivers license when I was 25! So you’re not as bad as I was ?
Lol I’m not giving up then. I have to get my license. Thank you Susan, and stop procrastinating.
This is fantastic. I’m new to the SAHM life so this gave me great ideas.
Welcome to SAHM life. You won’t regret it. Jenny. I didn’t think I would be where I am today 8 months ago when I started this journey
Great post! I definitely need to take a few of these to heart this year as a new SAHM. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you Jen, they are worth a shot. And it’s what I have learned these 8 months of a being a SAHM
This is a great list! Develop a DIY mentality and get things done was my 2018 new years resolution and I am happy to say I did it. I am so excited for 2019 and I will definitely be doing #21 and #16 this next year. Thank you!
I’m glad a diy worked for you. Nowadays if u sit and wait for other people, time passes you by. Thank you Ashley
Good for you for learning how to drive. You can do it! I hope you will follow through with that goal.
Yes I have to. Hubs got a car for me so I must learn. And I won’t be so dependent on him to move me around. Uber is getting quite expensive
These are the best resolutions ever. I’ve been a mom for 22 years and these are GOLDEN! Sharing!
Thank you Tiffany. Thank you for sharing.
“Get some help!” This was a tough one for me this past year, but so glad I asked for help!
Yes same here. I thought I could be a super mom and do it all by myself. I am glad I asked for help
Great list! I need to put a pen to paper and get my list made.
Thank you. Did you manage to make your list?
Great list. As a SAHM it’s hard to push myself to meet goals as hard as I did when I was in the professional world. These are very important to my new role in life.
Get some help! And budget!!! Outsourcing and keeping track are things Im just realizing are important. Only took 33 years. My word for the year is ‘intentional’ for this reason.
Intentional is a very good word for the year. Thank you for stopping by
Good thoughts for the new year! I will have to use some of these.
Thank you Shannon
Great list! Thanks for posting. People don’t give SAHM’s enough credit. It can be even harder than having an outside job. I’ll keep these in mind.
Yes that is true. Thank you for stopping by
Great resolution ideas. Mine is to try to be more present with my kids and enjoy my time with them as much as possible.
They are only small once and times flies
Great list. LOTS of stuff to pick from and they would all certainly improve my life. Thank you so much for the inspiration!
Thank you Rachael for the encouragement
I was just thinking to myself today while I was driving to work what one word would describe what I want to focus on in 2019 and it’s PATIENCE! I’m glad you had that on the list.
Patience takes you far Jena.
Great resolutions they are realistic so they can be accomplished and they are important goals to achieve. I will be using many of them off your list.
Thank you Lydia. Thank you for stopping by
