There are so many things we do to live a healthier lifestyle. Going to the gym, eating healthier, Green plastic-free life. Nowadays going green is the ‘IT’ thing. You have read such a scary post about the toxins such as plastic are in many products we use in our day to day lives.
Ranging from shopping, cooking, makeup, fashion, cleaning and travel items, plastic is infused in a lot of things. If you are like me I got pretty freaked out and my head began to spin, it is pretty overwhelming. There are many products that contain cancer-causing global-warming creature-suffocating chemicals that affect our tomorrow’s. As a mother I began to worry for my child’s future. Plastics are a major pollutant on the earth.
The good news is every contribution a person makes is a much safer tomorrow. So don’t count yourself as insignificant. You are a manager in your home and a mini influencer among your family and friends. Every contribution makes a difference. Plus going green and cutting out single-use plastic is highly reducing the toxic chemicals that your family is exposed to. In honor of #plasticfreejuly, why not begin to go grow with these simple but significant changes in your home by going green plastic-free?
How to go green plastic-free:
Bulk buying of non perishable products: buying products in bulk reduces buying goods in single-use plastics.Buy meat, chicken etc. and meat products straight from the butchery like Nagiahs.
Purchase freshly baked goods like bread from your local bakery or grocery stores like spar and checkers. They are wrapped in paper. Better yet bake your own yummy goodies.
Another way to go green plastic-free is by reducing the use of plastics (plastic-free). We do this by buying from markets like fruit and veg or food lovers market. They sell fresh fruits and veggies that are not prepacked. It is as though they are pulled straight from the garden and sold. Avoid buying frozen foods.
Other ways to save the planet:
Buying products in glass bottles like milk.
DIY your phone and tablet covers using biodegradable products.Reusing and recycling: using reusable coffee / tea mugs instead of disposable coffee cups, juice and soda bottles. Recycling old cotton t-shirts as your cleaning cloths: DIY glass purity bottles.
Making your own soap (DIY) and using soap bars, shampoo soap bars and dish washing soap bars. Or buy these from an eco-friendly shop.
Not forgetting these important solutions:
Using organic cotton bags instead of plastic bag for shopping. Don’t forget to carry them from your home to save you from buying them all the time.
Creating your own DIY compost heaps.
Make the switch from balloons to eco friendly decorations such as paper. You can make this a fun DIY moment to do with your children.Using stainless steel containers, pots, cutlery, plates, ice trays, bread bins, storage containers, sugar bowls and trays. Any plastic kitchen equipment can be switched to stainless steel.
Avoid using plastic straws, use paper or stainless steel straws.
Making your own make-up products, deodorant, travel products, air freshener, weed killers, insect balm, sunscreen, washing liquid with essential oils.
Incorporating bamboo spoons, dishes, toys, toothpicks to your household.
Switching to wooden / bamboo toilet brush and bottle cleaner handles and compostable bristles and combs or hair brushes.
Plastic free shoes and synthetic clothing, go for 100% cotton, wool, linen, bamboo clothing and hats.
Replace disposable razors with a razor with removable blades.
Make it fun for your children and educate them on the dangers of using plastic.
Practice gardening buy growing your own fruits and vegetables.
Look for a certified organic make up brand which is vegan, cruelty free, and uses eco-friendly packaging.
These last two points:
Use paper tape or ribbons, paper bags rather than wrapping paper and sell tape to wrap gifts.
